Legion Dinner marks valour of the British Forces at the fall of Delhi

Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence CB MVO with  David Switzer, Chairman of the RBLA and Legion Group plc at the Dinner

Legion Group plc, in conjunction with its charitable owner the Royal British Legion Attendants Company Trust (RBLA), held its annual Dinner on Thursday, 18th October 2007, at the Tallow Chandlers’ Hall in London.

The Dinner was held to mark the valour of the British Forces at the fall of Delhi in 1857.  Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence CB MVO was the Guest of Honour and the guest speaker was Professor Saul David.  Among those present were Chris Simpkins, Kate Adie, Robin Dahlberg, Vice Chairman of the SIA, and Keith Banbury, past President of the British Parking Association.

David Switzer, Chairman of the RBLA and Legion Group plc, thanked those present for their support.

During the evening, Admiral Laurence presented Legion’s National Awards to two employees, Rosie Guy and David Head, in recognition of their outstanding service to the company..

Rosie was presented with the Business Services Director's “Best Newcomer” National Award. Rosie joined the Company earlier this year as a Controller in our National Communications Centre.   Quickly learning our systems and procedures, Rosie was instrumental in securing a valuable emergency services contract for our new Skyguard Lone Worker Protection System.

Putting her previous Police Control Room experience to good use, Rosie remained professional, calm and resolute in dealing with a very stressful situation that resulted in the arrest of an offender during the service trials of the new system.

Rosie has impressed all with her professionalism and enthusiasm and has just been promoted to Senior Controller, responsible for a shift of Controllers.

David received the Business Service Director's National Award for "Service to the Customer".  He is the Supervisor for our team at the esure offices in Glasgow.   In this role he has prevented several breaches of security, interacting well with his team, the customer’s staff and visitors.

In addition to his duties that he performs exceedingly well, David has used his IT skills to develop a computerised Key Control Database, an online training package that requires staff to answer questions on each shift, grading their performance

and other software for the use of esure throughout their UK sites.   So successful is the online training package that we are rolling it out across our customer base.
